On a quiet Sunday night, the Safe-House was remarkably quiet at this time of the day. Most of the gang were doing whatever they wanted; Murray was watching a Mel Brooks marathon in the living room, Bentley was busy wiling away the time playing on his laptop, and Carmelita was asleep. Upstairs and very much awake, however, was one Nicole Cooper. Impatiently, she kept waiting for Sly to come home, reading a book to pass the time. But than, a knock at the window attracted her attention. Curious, she walked up to the window, before opening it. And wouldn't you know it, a smiling grey raccoon climbed through the window, careful not to make anymore noise. Closing the window, he than said, "Hey Nicky. Bit late to be staying up, huh?" Nicole nodded, before hugging Sly. "Yeah, but I couldn't sleep." Sly chuckled, petting her ears. "Right. Anyway, I'll just tuck you in." Nicole went to bed, just as Sly tucked her in, before she asked "Papa, can you tell me a story?" Sly wryly smiled, before sitting on a chair beside Nicole's bed. "Okie-doke. Maybe I should tell you the story about when I first met your mother." Nicole listened as Sly began his story.

'About ten years ago, right before I stole my file from Carmelita's office, the gang and I were trailing the Fire Ruby in Burma. To say your old man was unpolished would be...exaggerated. Couldn't wire jump to save my life at that point, and since this was our first serious mission, we were bound to run into problems. Luckily, Bentley was able to map out an entrance route to the Taj Mahal via the underground entrance, while Murray stayed in the van the entire time. Anyway, back on track. Once I snuck in through the underground entrance, I made my way through the place. Hadn't it been for Bentley's comm-link, I'd have gotten lost by that point. Suddenly, I found the ruby at the centre of the palace. The guards were changing shifts at that point, so it was pretty easy for me to slip past them and swipe my prize. But than I felt a concussive blast of electricity knock me off my feet, having been caught like an amateur. The one who shot me was the lovely Carmelita Fox, twirling her cannon like something out of an old Western. Fortunately I was quick to recover, barely slipping through her fingers as I cheesed it for the getaway van. We lost her, but I knew from that point onward that she would be a lovely thorn in my side.'

"...And that, little one, was how I met your mom." By that point, Nicole had fallen asleep. With a dry chuckle, Sly petted her ears before whispering, "Night, sweet-cheeks." He than left the room, just to see Carmelita standing right outside Nicole's room. Carmelita chuckled, gently tweaking Sly's ear. "Nice story there, ringtail. Though I think you left out one detail." Sly smiled, a cheeky grin shining through. "And what would that be, Carm?" Carmelita than replied, holding the shock-pistol. "I knocked you out twice. Once when I caught you with the ruby, and again when I shot you trying to high-tail it." Sly chuckled, "Nothing ever gets past you, huh?" just as he snuck a kiss on the ex-inspector's cheek. He than snuck off, leaving a red-cheeked Carmelita behind. "Just like old times," She than added, trailing Sly back to their room.
A little commission I made for the lovely :iconsoothe-belle: centering around her character, Nicole, being told a bedtime story by her old man. :iconslyplz:
