Thorax

Bio: Rupert Baxter was born with a life-threatening heart condition. To save him, his uncle injected him with a serum containing various insect DNA, the side-effects turning Rupert's skin bright purple, altering his genetic makeup and growing four extra limbs. Growing up in a sheltered household, he spent his time reading superhero comics to escape his confined reality. Finding a kindred spirit in these costumed heroes, Rupert dreamed that one day, he could become a hero just like them. When he turned 15, he ran away from his home in Connecticut with a fellow runaway, taking this opportunity to make that childhood dream a reality as the outlaw hero Thorax.

Powers: In addition to enhanced senses, Thorax has the ability to 'evolve' different body parts from the Insect and Arachnid Kingdoms by entering a 'Chrysalis' stage that lasts twenty seconds, shedding any old or dead skin to reveal new body parts such as pincers, wings or venom glands. His extra appendages also allow him to climb walls.

Weaknesses: Since he is part-insect, Thorax has no natural body heat glands, putting him at extreme risk of freezing to death in low temperatures. His 'Chrysalis' stage also makes him vulnerable, meaning a canny opponent can knock him out.
